These days it can be cured, medicine has advanced greatly. And those were the weapons to conquer with! And that was the wealth to pay with! And that was the power to go forward with! And our Lord led us throughout the world, and we're in Europe, Asia, Africa, America, and Australasia thanks to the sick, who are a treasure. And I'll never forget that poor sick woman whom I, as a young priest, was attending as she died. After giving her the last Sacraments I whispered in her ear: Blessed be pain! - that is liberation - Loved be pain! And she started repeating it in a broken voice -- she died a few minutes later...Sanctified be pain! Glorified be pain! And I think the same now. This is my liberation! |

Andrea Bocelli racconta il non aborto della madre
In queste ore sta suscitando curiosità un video su Youtube nel quale il tenore italiano Andrea Bocelli racconta al pianoforte una storia di aborto. Amatissimo non solo in Italia, ma anche nel resto del mondo, Bocelli parla di una "donna che arriva in ospedale convinta di avere problemi di appendicite e invece è incinta. I dottori le misero del ghiaccio sulla pancia e poi, quando il trattamento era finito, le dissero che avrebbe fatto meglio ad abortire. Che era la soluzione migliore, perché il bambino sarebbe venuto al mondo con qualche forma di disabilità. Ma la giovane e coraggiosa sposa decise di non interrompere la gravidanza e il bambino nacque". Quella donna era sua madre e il bambino nel grembo proprio lui. Alla fine la madre, nonostante i medici le avessero preannunciato quali sarebbero state le condizioni del bambino, non ha abortito. Andrea Bocelli è nato con una forma di glaucoma congenito che lo ha reso quasi cieco fino a quando, all'età di 12 anni, un colpo alla testa durante una partita di calcio avrebbe accellerato il processo della sua cecità. |

L’Italia e gli italiani hanno risposto subito a questa chiamata, senza perdere un minuto. Anche noi di Chums abbiamo risposto a questo appello condividendo questa 51° edizione con gli universitari dell’Aquila. Abbiamo spostato la sede del Convegno dalle comode e ridenti sponde del lago di Como, alle pietre spezzate abruzzesi. I giorni che abbiamo trascorso in Abruzzo sono stati divisi tra incontri, seminari e tempo da trascorrere accanto ai bambini e agli anziani, le due fasce piuÌ€ fragili della popolazione. | ||
